Tasks and Functions
The main tasks and functions of the department:

Determine the methodological framework and strategic directions of the activities of the Central Bank, as established by law, for the organization of cash circulation within the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
-
conduct analysis and monitoring of cash circulation through bank cash offices, the volume of cash in circulation and in the reserve fund of the Central Bank, changes therein, as well as the uninterrupted provision of cash to individuals and business entities from their deposit accounts;

carry out the redistribution of cash among regions based on the analysis of cash flows, cash circulation patterns, and the status of cash settlements;

maintain and enhance analytical reporting on changes in the structure, quantity, and volume of banknotes and coins, and prepare relevant analytical information and proposals on optimizing the volume of cash in circulation;

organize activities related to the production of banknotes and coins, the storage, transportation, and cash collection of currency, as well as the withdrawal from circulation and destruction, in accordance with the established procedure, of worn-out and unfit banknotes and coins;

prepare proposals, based on the outcomes of studying and reviewing the experience of foreign countries (including through official business visits), for the introduction of advanced international practices and new types of products in the field of cash circulation management, and ensure their effective implementation in practice;

take appropriate measures to improve cash circulation management, introduce new mechanisms for cash operations and cash collection (cash-in-transit) services, and implement the automation of these processes and the digitalization of information exchange in the relevant areas;
- approve, in accordance with the established procedure and following the required coordination, the specimens and designs of banknotes and coins of new denominations to be issued into circulation, and prepare information for mass media regarding their introduction into circulation or withdrawal therefrom.
