The main tasks of the department:

conducting fundamental and applied research on current economic issues relevant to the activities of the Central Bank;
periodically analyzing opportunities and risks across sectors of the economy;
developing research collaboration with domestic and foreign research centers, higher education institutions, international organizations, financial institutions and experts through joint research;
developing the “Research Platform”, which brings together researchers, knowledge and ideas within the Central Bank, fostering an enabling environment for research and analytical activities, and implementing and continuously improving research grant and fellowship programs;

The main functions of the department:

developing research programs based on the priority areas of the Central Bank;
planning and implementing research projects on macroeconomic processes, monetary policy effectiveness, financial stability, banking system development, banking sector risks, macroprudential instruments, digital finance and other topical areas, thereby providing scientific and analytical support for these areas;
developing structural models widely used by foreign central banks and adapting them to Uzbekistan’s economy;
preparing reviews, analytical materials, presentations and practical proposals based on the results of research and analysis;
organizing and coordinating academic seminars, conferences, research projects and cooperation initiatives.
