The Central Bank hosted a meeting of the management with representatives of the World Bank in the framework of development policy support (DPO — Development Policy Operation).
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the results of ongoing reforms in monetary policy, as well as in the field of banking regulation and supervision.
The meeting also exchanged views on improving the activities of the Central Bank, in particular, the parties discussed the reforms implemented after the adoption of the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan" dated November 11, 2019, "On banks and banking activities" dated November 5, 2019 in a new edition. It was noted that the main goal of these transformations is the development of the banking sector, which in the future will contribute to the growth of the private sector.
In turn, representatives of the World Bank expressed gratitude to the management of the Central Bank for fruitful cooperation and noted tangible progress in creating the necessary conditions for maintaining macroeconomic stability in the country.
At the end of the meeting, the guests expressed interest in further cooperation on the issues discussed.
