In accordance with the Law “On the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, one of the main tasks of the Central Bank is to store and manage official international reserves of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The calculation of international reserves is conducted in compliance with the standards of the International Monetary Fund. International reserves consist of foreign currency reserves and monetary gold.
In order to manage the international reserves efficiently, the Central Bank separately calculates and keeps the record of both gross and net international reserves.
The net international reserves do not include the foreign currency of commercial banks and government entities (except the Ministry of Finance, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development) at their accounts with the Central Bank, which are considered as obligations of the Central Bank to these entities.
In June 2018 gross international reserves declined by 463.1 mln. USD, mainly resulted from a decrease in gold price during the reporting period from 1303.50 to 1250.55 USD/troy ounce (price factor estimated at 573.5 mln. USD).
An increase in the gross international reserves, excluding the decrease in gold price, amounted to 110.4 mln. USD.
