Today, the majority of those who fall victim to online scammers are women and minors. It is especially important to raise women’s awareness about not disclosing personal information, being cautious with online shopping, “APK” files, and not trusting fake calls.
This was reported at a seminar held at the Central Bank as part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, under the theme “Let’s Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.” The event was attended by representatives of the Women’s Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and women working within the Central Bank system.
Experts introduced participants to the legal and psychological opportunities created to protect women from all forms of violence and to help them find their place in society. The seminar discussed the currently increasing types of financial fraud — malicious applications, attacks on bank cards, fake accounts, methods for identifying financial fraud and pyramid schemes, as well as measures to protect against manipulation in the online environment.
