As part of the international forum “Monetary Policy Dialogue – 2026”, Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of effective cooperation between the central banks of the two countries, as well as prospects for further expanding it into new areas. They exchanged views on reforms being implemented in recent years to develop the financial sector, enhance financial inclusion, and improve access to modern financial services.
In particular, the Uzbek side provided information on the legal framework being developed in the field of Islamic finance, ongoing initiatives in this area, and approaches to the gradual development of this market. At the same time, the practical experience of the Tajik side in developing Islamic finance and microfinance institutions was discussed, and the importance of continuing the exchange of experience in this area was noted.
The parties also exchanged views on the development of the fintech ecosystem, the introduction of innovative financial services, the improvement of regulatory mechanisms, and ensuring cybersecurity. They expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in these areas and support mutually beneficial initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of consistently continuing constructive dialogue between the central banks of the two countries and further intensifying the exchange of experience.
