The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Bank of Korea have signed a bilateral agreement to conduct a new joint research project under the Knowledge Partnership Program (KPP).

During the first stage of the programme, a research seminar was held with the participation of representatives of the Bank of Korea and professors from Korea’s Asia Research Center (ARC). The seminar featured presentations and an exchange of expertise on the following topics:

– the role of floating-rate instruments in strengthening the central bank’s operational framework;
– the impact of these instruments on financial stability;
– an empirical analysis of the monetary policy transmission mechanism amid external shocks;
– an assessment of monetary policy transmission channels in the context of the growing volume of transactions involving floating-rate instruments.

During the second stage of the visit, members of the joint research team—including employees of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Bank of Korea, and professors from the Asia Research Center—discussed the research questions, the scope of data to be used in the analysis, and the further measures required to ensure the successful completion of the study.
