30 Dec 2019

The Central bank of Uzbekistan together with the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) technical assistance mission, which visited Uzbekistan during July 17 - August 2, 2019, have improved the practice of compiling of monetary statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan based on the recommendations of the new edition of the IMF’s “Monetary and Financial Statistics Manual and Compilation Guide”.

In particular, the Surveys and monetary data compiled by Central bank were revised and corrected by following changes:

1. “Central bank Survey”:

- new extended version of the Survey has been developed and introduced, which provides separation of financial assets and instruments by subjects (sectors) of the economy and on a resident basis;

- funds of commercial banks in foreign currency on correspondent accounts with the Central bank are included in Monetary Base.

2. "Banking system (depository corporations) Survey":

- funds of the citizens held on the Cumulative Individual Pension System with the Halq bank are excluded from Broad money because of the restrictions on their withdrawal by the account holder;

- credit funds allocated by Fund for Reconstruction and Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan to commercial banks for financing of investment projects in the economy are reclassified as liabilities of commercial banks to Central Government;

- new extended version of the Survey has been developed and introduced, which provides separation of financial assets and instruments by subjects (sectors) of the economy and on a resident basis;

- the Survey has been renamed to the “Depository Corporations Survey”.

3. Disseminated statistical data include a new form of “Other Depository Corporations Survey” compiled separately for commercial banks.

Taking into account above mentioned changes, starting from December 2019, monetary statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be published in an updated format.

In addition, historical monetary statistics previously published on the Central bank’s official website, and in the IMF’s enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS), as well as in other statistical information systems, will be updated in a new extended form.
