The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a delegation from the Central Bank of Armenia for discussions on research capacity development, institutional approaches to strengthening analytical functions, and enhancing the role of research in policymaking.
Particular attention was given to the Central Bank of Armenia's experience in strengthening its research function, including setting research priorities, developing researchers' technical and analytical skills, assessing research quality, and validating research outputs.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan also presented its ongoing efforts to systematically strengthen its research and analytical function. This included the Research Strategy for 2026–2030, the Research Agenda for 2026–2028, the work of the Research Council, and partnerships with domestic and international higher education institutions.
The discussions also focused on strengthening the research function within central banks, systematizing research processes, developing staff's research and analytical capabilities, evaluating research in line with international standards, and ensuring that research effectively supports evidence-based policymaking.
The parties further exchanged views on the establishment of a dedicated research center, discussing its potential benefits, institutional prerequisites, and implementation challenges. Representatives of the Central Bank of Armenia shared their experience and insights from the organizational reforms undertaken in recent years.
The meeting also underscored the importance of continuous knowledge exchange among peer central banks, learning from international best practices, and creating practical platforms for joint research and expert dialogue.
The meeting concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to expanding research and analytical collaboration, fostering knowledge exchange, and pursuing future joint initiatives that support evidence-based policymaking.
