A meeting was held at the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — FAO, focusing on the impact of water scarcity on macroeconomic stability amid climate change.

During the meeting, participants discussed the impact of water scarcity on agricultural production, food prices and inflationary processes through the lens of the Water–Energy–Food Nexus concept. They also exchanged views on projections related to the decline in water resources as a result of climate change and the potential implications for the national economy.

The discussions also covered the need to further study the impact of water resources and climate-related factors on macroeconomic and financial stability, conduct joint research in this area, and develop scientific cooperation based on international methodologies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Central Bank and FAO expressed their readiness to continue cooperation in assessing the macroeconomic impact of water resources and climate-related factors, conducting joint scientific and practical research, and applying international experience to Uzbekistan’s context.
