On 10 July 2026, the concluding meeting of the International Monetary Fund Statistics Department’s technical assistance mission was held at the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, IMF experts presented the mission’s main findings and recommendations. They noted that the Central Bank has a strong foundation for the further development of its statistical system, supported by dedicated and proactive staff and openness to institutional and methodological improvements.
The mission’s recommendations focused on the following key areas:
- strengthening institutional arrangements and establishing structured cooperation with the National Statistics Committee and other relevant agencies;
- developing a three- to five-year statistical strategy, supported by annual work plans and aligned with the Central Bank’s strategic priorities and user needs;
- further improving statistical methodologies, including preparations for forthcoming international statistical standards;
- optimizing and automating data collection, validation, processing, storage, and dissemination processes;
- developing an integrated and AI-ready data infrastructure in cooperation with the Central Bank’s data governance function;
- expanding the coverage, granularity, frequency, and analytical value of statistical products;
- improving the practice of communicating statistical information in formats convenient for decision-makers;
- establishing structured staff capacity-development and internal knowledge-sharing mechanisms;
- developing capabilities for the use of granular, alternative, and big data in cooperation with international partners.
The Central Bank expresses its appreciation to the IMF Statistics Department mission team and representatives of partner institutions for their constructive cooperation and valuable recommendations.
