On 15 September the Central Bank of Uzbekistan hosted an event dedicated to the first anniversary of the implementation of the international initiative “Women’s Entrepreneurship Finance Code” (We-Finance Code)
in Uzbekistan.
The initiative is currently being implemented in more than 30 countries around the world.
The event was attended by Ms. Malika Kadrkhanova, Member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Ms. Nozima Davletova, Adviser to the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan; as well as national and international experts, representatives of banks and financial institutions, government bodies, and international partner organizations.
During the event, the key achievements under the Code were presented, including:
1. The establishment of a National Coalition consisting of 17 participants, including commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and associations.
2. The development of a National Charter by the Central Bank as the national coordinator, with Uzbekistan being recognized as the first country in the region present a document within the framework of the initiative.
3. The launch of a new data platform (dashboard) reflecting gender-disaggregated financial inclusion indicators for women entrepreneurs.
These accomplishments were highlighted by the international community as an important step in advancing Uzbekistan’s inclusive economic policies and strengthening the country’s global standing.
In addition, the event featured the signing ceremony of commitments by new members of the Code – the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the company “Hamroh”.
The annual results of the WE-Finance Code initiative not only open up opportunities for women entrepreneurs, but also contribute to enhancing inclusiveness and social resilience in the country’s economy.
