On April 23-24, 2026, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized and conducted a series of training sessions on Islamic finance for the public and business representatives in the city of Yangiyul, as well as in Zangiata and Kibray districts of Tashkent region.
The events brought together more than 120 participants from the public and over 80 entrepreneurs, reflecting the growing interest in alternative financial instruments and the increasing demand for financial literacy in this area.
Within the framework of the training sessions, participants were provided with a detailed explanation of the core principles and essence of Islamic finance, and were also introduced to Islamic financial instruments widely used in international practice. In particular, murabaha was presented as a financing mechanism involving the sale of goods to a client on a deferred payment basis. In addition, the ijara mechanism was explained, which is similar to leasing and involves the transfer of an asset for temporary use in exchange for a specified payment. Special attention was given to musharaka, a partnership-based financing model in which profits and losses are distributed proportionally to the participants’ shares.
The sessions were conducted in an interactive format and included active discussions with participants. The open dialogue helped identify key questions and areas of interest among both the public and entrepreneurs, particularly regarding the accessibility of Islamic financial products.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan will continue to implement initiatives aimed at advancing Islamic finance, including the organization of educational activities and supporting the introduction of relevant financial products in the financial market.
