A meeting with representatives of Société Générale was held at the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by Abror Mirzo Olimov, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank; heads of the relevant structural divisions of the Central Bank; and members of the Société Générale delegation headed by Aymeric Arnaud, Chief Regional Officer for the Middle East, Türkiye, CIS and Africa.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on Société Générale’s activities in Uzbekistan’s financial market, the ongoing reforms in the country, the improvement of the investment climate, and the further expansion of cooperation with international financial institutions.
During the discussion, Société Générale expressed its interest in opening a representative office in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Central Bank provided detailed information on the applicable legislation and established procedures for the accreditation of representative offices of foreign banks.
The parties also exchanged views on the development of the derivatives market in Uzbekistan for managing foreign exchange and interest rate risks, including hedging instruments. The Central Bank emphasized the importance of deepening financial markets, expanding opportunities for managing foreign exchange risks, and developing modern financial instruments for market participants. In turn, Société Générale representatives expressed their readiness to share their experience in this area.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue dialogue on the matters discussed.
