A bilateral meeting between the delegations of Uzbekistan and Switzerland was held as part of Swiss Constituency Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Tashkent.
The meeting was attended by Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Ilhom Norqulov, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Swiss delegation headed by Martin Schlegel, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank.
During the meeting, the Swiss side expressed its appreciation for Uzbekistan's successful hosting and high-level organization of the event, while highlighting the friendly relations between the two countries. Both sides underscored the importance of technical cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the existing partnership.
The discussions focused on a range of ongoing and prospective cooperation initiatives, including projects aimed at enhancing institutional capacity. The parties also reviewed joint activities being implemented in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank.
The meeting also covered Uzbekistan’s ongoing integration into global markets and opportunities to attract greater Swiss investment into the country. Particular attention was given to leveraging Switzerland’s experience as one of the world's leading international financial and trading hubs to foster mutually beneficial cooperation.
The parties emphasized the value of maintaining regular dialogue and expressed their readiness to continue cooperation in the areas of technical assistance and institutional capacity building.
