The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan is issuing a special collection of commemorative coins to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The collection consists of three coins and brings together, within a unified artistic concept, the themes of Uzbekistan’s national statehood, historical memory, national values and modern development. Each coin features a distinctive composition reflecting key symbols and values associated with the history of independence.
The first coin depicts the Independence Monument as a symbol of the freedom of the Uzbek people, national pride and sovereign statehood. Rays of sunlight emerging from behind the monument represent the opportunities created by independence and a bright future. The reverse features the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the date of its adoption — 18 November 1991. This artistic composition highlights the prominent role of state symbols in the life of the country.
The second coin is dedicated to Uzbekistan’s historical and spiritual heritage. Its obverse depicts the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, an architectural image symbolizing the country’s contribution to the development of global scholarship, spirituality and Islamic civilization. The reverse features the State Emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the date of its adoption — 2 July 1992. The composition embodies the principles of state sovereignty, national unity and statehood.
The third coin in the collection features the number “35” as its principal design element. Its refined and contemporary interpretation symbolizes the continuity of independence and the passing of historical responsibility to future generations. The reverse bears the line “Olamni mahliyo aylagan diyor!” (“A land that enchants the world!”) from the State Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the date of the anthem’s adoption — 10 December 1992. Traditional doppiornamental motifs have also been incorporated into the design as a symbol of national identity.
The commemorative coins are minted in 999.9 fine gold (Au) and silver (Ag). Each coin weighs 31.1 grams and has a face value of UZS 100,000. The coins will be offered both as a three-coin collector’s set and individually.
The initial mintage will comprise 450 gold commemorative coins and 800 silver commemorative coins, with the respective mintages subject to increase depending on demand.
The commemorative coins present the 35-year history of Uzbekistan’s independence through the symbols of national statehood, historical memory and the ideas of modern development, forming a coherent artistic and numismatic concept. The collection is intended for those interested in the country’s history and culture, as well as collectors who value distinctive commemorative items reflecting the history of Uzbekistan’s independence.
The commemorative coins will go on sale from 27 August at 690 branches of commercial banks. Updated information on sale prices and availability at banks will be published daily on the Central Bank’s official website.
