Within the framework of the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum 2026, representatives of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Tencent discussed the development of cross-border QR payments.
The meeting focused on opportunities to integrate Uzbekistan’s Unified QR payment system with foreign payment ecosystems and make payment processes more convenient for Uzbek citizens and international visitors.
Integration of the Unified QR system with global payment networks could enable foreign visitors to make cashless payments in Uzbekistan using the payment applications they already use, while providing Uzbek citizens with broader access to QR-based payment services when travelling abroad.
The parties agreed to draw on Tencent’s experience in integrating national QR infrastructures with international payment ecosystems, and to hold technical meetings to define the next steps and develop a clear roadmap for further cooperation.
