As Uzbekistan continues to develop its Islamic finance sector, strengthening the institutional framework and building professional expertise are becoming increasingly important. A skilled workforce is essential to ensure that Islamic financial products and services are introduced and applied effectively.
These issues were among the key topics discussed during a meeting between the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), held within the framework of the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum 2026.
During the meeting, the Central Bank outlined its approach to developing a national Islamic finance ecosystem based on international experience and best industry practice in compliance with Islamic finance standards.
CIBAFI Secretary General expressed readiness to share the organization’s experience in professional education, certification and capacity building in Islamic finance. The need to develop training programs tailored to the needs of Uzbekistan’s market was also highlighted, including training on Islamic financial contracts and programs aimed at strengthening the professional expertise of specialists in the sector.
The parties agreed to continue the dialogue and further explore areas for practical cooperation.
