Uzbekistan is currently exploring opportunities to develop digital Islamic banking, including international approaches to creating the necessary regulatory and institutional framework.
In this context, representatives of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bank Negara Malaysia and Maybank met on the sidelines of the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum 2026.
The meeting included an exchange of views on different models for developing digital banking services, with particular emphasis on the importance of establishing appropriate regulatory and governance frameworks alongside the necessary technological infrastructure.
The parties agreed to continue exchanging expertise in digital and Islamic finance and exploring opportunities for future cooperation.
