A technical mission by experts from the consulting firm OGResearch has begun at the Central Bank under the BCC cooperation programme between Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and central banks. The visit was organised as part of the project “Development of a Monetary Policy Strategy and Roadmap for Uzbekistan’s Full Transition to an Inflation Targeting Regime”.
During the visit, the draft roadmap for further improving the inflation targeting regime in 2027–2028 was discussed in detail. It sets out priority areas for strengthening the institutional foundations of monetary policy, developing the macroeconomic analysis and forecasting system, enhancing monetary policy transmission and improving communication effectiveness.
The roadmap also envisages measures to enhance accountability and transparency in achieving the inflation target, improve the effectiveness of monetary policy instruments and develop financial markets. Particular attention was paid to adopting international best practices while taking into account the specific characteristics of the national economy.
