The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a seminar on “Digital Payments, Tax Compliance and Business Formalization”, featuring Botir Kobilov, Professor at the University of Texas, PhD graduate of Harvard University, former employee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, and a member of the Research Council.
The seminar focused on research findings on how the adoption of digital payments can influence business activity, tax compliance, and the formalization of entrepreneurship, alongside relevant international evidence and experiences.
Participants discussed the broader role of digitalization in improving business transparency, strengthening tax compliance, and supporting the transition of businesses from the informal to the formal economy.
The seminar brought together participants with an interest in economics, finance, tax policy, entrepreneurship, and digital payments, providing an opportunity to exchange views and discuss the implications of digital payment adoption for business formalization and economic development.
