As part of the Silk Road Finance and Technology Forum, the leadership of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Patrick Njoroge, Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and former Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.
The discussion focused on opportunities to further strengthen research capacity in the areas of financial technology development and the advancement of modern payment infrastructure.
In particular, the parties explored potential areas of cooperation in identifying emerging needs and priorities amid the rapid digitalization of the financial sector, as well as in developing and implementing innovative technological solutions to address them. They also highlighted the importance of enhancing the efficiency, security and resilience of payment systems in today’s global financial environment and drawing on international best practices.
The meeting also covered opportunities to expand research cooperation between the Central Bank and MIT, including joint research projects, knowledge exchange among experts and researchers, as well as the organization of seminars and other academic initiatives.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in these areas and to explore potential joint initiatives going forward.
